Blue Water Task Force

Lab at Pacific High School
Lab at Pacific High School

The Port Orford Ocean Resource Team (POORT) and Surfrider Foundation's Blue Water Task Force are conducting monthly water quality testing this school year at marine and freshwater locations in the Port Orford area. We are testing our usual spots at Brush Creek, Hubbard Creek, Battle Rock, Port Beach, Garrison Lake Outfall.

The lab has been set up at Pacific High School where Curt Gault's Marine Biology class will be analyzing the samples for the presence of bacteria.

Why Water is Important Volunteer packets, coolers, sampling containers, and instructions are now available for pick up at the POORT office. Please email Briana Goodwin (briana@oceanresourceteam.org) or Charlie Plybon (cplybon@surfrider.org) for more information, or stop by the POORT Office.

Testing dates are generally the fourth Monday of every month. Samples are to be dropped off by 1:45 pm in the cooler outside of the POORT office.

Please visit the BWTF Website for more information and monthly results from all over the US!
